Weather Routing

  • By emailing or calling daily, at a pre-arranged time, we will prepare a forecast and route for you. The forecast will be written by one of our forecasters and will be specific to your route and heading. This will then be delivered in a plain text format.The Forecast Will Consist Of The Following
  • A general synopsis of pressure systems likely to affect you in the coming days.
  • A detailed forecast for of the next 24hrs, consisting of wind direction, speed, sea state, weather and visibility.
  • A further outlook for the next 48 hrs will also be given
  • Advice on severe weather avoidance, where to find the favorable winds and finally the best sailing route for the data supplied.


Talk To A Forecaster

  • By calling daily, at a pre-arranged time, we will prepare a bespoke forecast for you. The forecast will be written by one of our forecasters and will be specific to your route and heading.
  • A general synopsis of pressure systems likely to affect you in the coming days.
  • Advice on any severe weather and its avoidance
  • A detailed forecast for each of the next 5 days, consisting of wind direction, speed, sea state, weather and visibility.


The forecasters

Simon Keeling

  • Is a member of the Royal Meteorological Society and has appeared on numerous television and radio programs both in the UK and overseas. He was met-producer for the weather channel in the States and the first weatherman on Britain’s 24 hour TV weather station. Simon has also presented weather on GMTV, ITV’s flagship breakfast program before setting up W.C.S. Marine a company that specializes in providing detailed weather forecasts for sailors via the internet or fax.

Jim Allen

  • Is a professional meteorologist and yachtsman whose activities have included, Met Advisor to the Whitbread Round the World Race, the British Admiral’s Cup Team and the Trade Winds Round the World Rally. He has also been a BBC Shipping Forecaster and in recent years his duties have included Senior Met Officer at both Southampton Weather Centre and Met Office Gibraltar. 

John Edowski

  • Served for 4 years in the US Navy, and 18 years in the US Air Force where he was a weather forecaster. He provided weather support for the space shuttle and was forecaster of the year for Yokota AB Japan as well as twice achieving this accolade at RAF Upper Heyford. Since 1994 he became a self employed forecaster, providing weather data to companies in the private sector. These included radio and television stations, supermarkets, utility companies, local businesses, racing teams, balloonists and light aircraft.

  • I O S, & Wind Guru, have teamed up to create a new Atlantic Weather Centre for yachtsmen. The centre offers a special and reasonably priced talk to a forecaster and routing service I.O.S designed 15 Ocean areas for the Atlantic, these have already been used and tested by sailors in both the ARC and Blue Water Rallies for a number of years now. From 2006 IOS has provided a data service via the web. The data comes from Wind Guru a well known and respected Czech web site for windsurfers which covers over 300 spot points within our unique Atlantic areas The centre also provides national meteorological offices and weather links to over 1000 sites,

GMDSS
